20x200 is built on a simple formula:
(limited editions + low prices) × the internet = art for everyone
At 20x200 we offer limited edition fine art prints at ridiculously affordable prices. Each week we announce at least two new prints, one photograph and one work on paper, in three sizes and editions. Priced at $20, $200 and $2000, the prints appeal to collectors emerging and established and often sell out in minutes. To accommodate that demand, we've recently started to expand our inventory, releasing special double editions, and larger $50 and $500 prints.
The savvy art-addicted are signed up for the mailing list — our newsletters give them advance notice of editions before they become available on the site's homepage. I describe 20x200 as the gateway drug of the art world. Once you're hooked, you'll be coming back for more.
"Art for everyone" has been my goal since opening my gallery in NYC in 2003. With thousands of 20x200 collectors all over the world, that goal is closer than I ever dreamed it could be. Some collectors have bought just one $20 print, others have bought dozens. Hundreds of our $200 prints hang on the walls of collecting neophtyes and connoisseurs. $2000 prints are included in the collections of some serious art world heavy-hitters.
I don't use the term collectors lightly - I really believe that more people should collect art, not just to enrich their lives, but also because patronage matters. Why spend your money on posters from IKEA when you can build a collection of limited edition prints and photographs and directly support the artists who are creating them? In other words: Buying art is good and good for you.
About the prints themselves: produced with archival inks on high quality papers, each edition is supervised by the artist. Every print comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. Prints arrive in clear archival sleeves and are accompanied with information about the artist, the work and instructions on how to care for your art.
Finally, a word about why 20x200 is sponsoring kottke.org. We're pretty bullish on curation at 20x200 HQ, in art, in shopping, and in finding good stuff to read online. We've all been enjoying Jason's well-curated selection of links for years now, so we jumped at the chance to show him some love. Aside from that, our hunch is that if you like your web well-curated, you'll like our well-curated art too.
