The First Panda in Space

When we were kids, my brother and I used to play a lot of make believe games. Spaceship was a favorite, and invariably my role was as the first panda in space. (I am surely dating myself when I say that my endless fascination with Ling-Ling and Tsing-Tsing at the National Zoo was a defining aspect of my young life.)

A long-ago boyfriend of mine was sufficiently charmed by this (not to mention sufficiently geeky enough) that he created the animated .gif you see above in homage. Said boyfriend also happens to be totally OCD astoundingly organized, which means that when I asked him whether he still had said .gif a few weeks back, he was able to unearth it and send it along to me in short order.

Why am I posting this? Because I’ve got pandas on the brain lately. (Check 20×200 later today and you’ll see why.)
