Notes and Stuff
I’m busy and I’m tired. I’m also tired of talking about how busy I am. It’s boring and it takes away time from actually doing stuff. But, still, there’s plenty that’s been done and that needs doing. Here is a scatter-shot selection of what’s been going on and what’s in store:
- Wordsmithing energies usually expended here have been directed (and limited to) 20×200. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays I write about the week’s artwork selections. It’s really fun, but rather demanding, which kind of sums up the project overall so far. Sign up for the 20×200 mailing list to read these missives and get an early heads up on the days’ editions.
- I attended my 20th Year High School reunion on Saturday night. I went to school with some smart people who are doing interesting things. The conversations that engaged me most were with people I wasn’t really close with during school - someone who just got back from spending a year in Baghdad in a diplomatic role, another who is involved in developing affordable housing as an urban planner. I guess we’re grown-ups now.
- My interview with Alec Soth is now available in its entirety on the Photoeye site. Click through to read up on models and Minnesota. Also Fashion Magazine, the topic of our little chat, is in now in stock. I think it’s swell, and recommend that you get one.
- I’m scrambling to plan out the rest of the year’s gallery program, something I should probably have sorted out by now, but alas. Stay tuned for announcements about that later this week.
- Mark your calendars, consumers: Saturday October 20th, from 3pm-5pm, KBB is coming to town! Again! Ms. Kate Bingaman-Burt is coming back to NYC to talk about her exhibition at the JB, Obsessive Consumption. More on that later in the week, we’ve got surprise guests and stuff.
- The Fall season of Hey, Hot Shot! is on. You gotta be in it to win it. And apparently you don’t even have to win it to win. Congrats to Johanna and Liz on their two person show at Shotgun Space in Los Angeles.

Tell you what: When I win someday, I’ll let you know which was better.
In the meantime, you’re right: Entering and getting some attention on the HHS blog was a good thing all the way around. Thanks, Jen.
