Divine: The Photography of Laura Letinsky

Laura Letinsky, Untitled 49
For me, the highlight of PhotoLA was the opportunity to finally see Laura Letinsky’s prints in person. I’d long admired the work online and in her book, Now Again. The prints, they did not disappoint: Such gorgeousness! Ms. Letinsky makes mess look damn good. The softness of the light, the saturated pastel colors, the tradition of the still life and yet: not at all cheesy and you know, kind of dirty.
I’d like to invite Laura over. She could make my crumpled paper towels and coffee-stained countertops into art. Unfortunately, I think she’s probably too busy. I’ll have to settle for going to see her prints in person again, this time in NYC, on Friday (2/2). Her exhibition opens at Yancey Richardson that evening, and I for one simply cannot wait!
