Perhaps a Cat

Celebrity gossip is a guilty pleasure of mine. I started reading Page Six in high school. One of the biggest perks of visits to my grandmother’s house was the opportunity to sequester myself in my mother’s old bedroom with back issues of Star Magazine.
The internet sates my gossip jones almost entirely these days, save for the occasional back-issue of People left at my door by my neighbor Kim. Of course, gossip and the internet are a match made in heaven (and are rendering the print weeklies obsolete, as I see it.) Anyway, suffice to say that the number of gossip blogs I read is on par with my photography related blog reading.
The Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes nuptials are riveting in their own reviling way. Of particular interest to me are the tidbits about Scientology that have been surfaced by all this breathless reporting. My favorite nugget so far is about the “Traditional Vows” of a Scientology ceremony:
In the old-fashioned language that marks the Traditional version, the groom is reminded that “girls” need “clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat” — and is asked to provide them all.
Good luck with all that, Katie.
