Glass House

Metropolis has an extensive slideshow of Philip Johnson’s Glass House and its surrounding buildings. Many of the photos were shot specifically for the feature, but there are lots of amazing vintage shots too. The house is opening to the public in April.
The photos are the meat of it, for me at least, but there is accompanying article: Extending the Legacy is available on the site as well.

what a marvellous house. Would it get too hot in Australia’s sunshine in summer?
Ta.
Wouldn’t it be kind of weird to go to the bathroom when there are people staring at you through your walls??? Where are the windows??? How do you get air into the house?? Will you suffocate???
I love that house and I have wished my house had more windows like that since the first time I laid eyes on it
don’t throw stones!
its cool!
i have oso a question about the ventilation… n the indoor temperature ..
anyhow, there is quite good visions…
I don’t even see a bathroom. Maybe they just go in the woods out back.
As for windows and ventilation, I’m pretty sure many of those huge glass panels open up to the outside. Lovely and terrifying at the same time. But then all revolutions are uncomfortable.
The bathroom is housed in the same structure as the fireplace near the center of the house (separate portions, of course) :]
Wonderful architecture.
